Richland Community College - Outreach Coordinator for Agricultural Programs
Due to swift growth in agricultural program enrollments, Richland Community College, which is located in the agribusiness capital of world – Decatur, is currently seeking an Outreach Coordinator for Agricultural Programs.
Position Summary: This position will be responsible for implementing effective outreach efforts with K-12 educational partners and the agriculture business community which will support the continued growth and success of the agricultural and related programs. This position will have the opportunity to teach agriculture courses, as needed.
Minimum Requirements: Bachelor’s in Agriculture or a related field, required. Master’s degree in Agriculture (or a Master’s degree in a related discipline with 18 graduate credit hours in Agriculture) is preferred. Three years minimum Agriculture industry experience is preferred.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, and to work effectively with faculty, coordinators, the Dean, and the administrative assistant. Must be able to organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines. Possess strong verbal, written, analytical, presentation, and interpersonal skills. Must maintain a professional demeanor and be able to work cooperatively with a diverse group of interests in the community, industry, and the College.
Essential Functions: Plans, organizes and manages all aspects of student competitions, programs, initiatives, and events offered and/or hosted by the Richland Community College agriculture program.
Coordinates closely with high school agriculture teachers within the Richland Community College district to offer student focused events designed to enhance career and leadership development. In addition to serving as a resource to high school agriculture programs with the goal of enhancing the success of their FFA chapters.
Recruits students via visits to high school schools and by conducting and/or hosting other events for high school students.
Tracks prospective students and follow-up to assist with the enrollment process.
Coordinates with the marketing department to complete public relations activities such as the development of press releases, brochures, and other marketing materials.
Represents Richland Community College at agriculturally-related career fairs and other similar events.
Networks within both the agriculture and education communities in order to create and maintain a broad range of positive relationships with partners and stakeholders and develop strong strategic relationships for Richland in the field of agriculture.
Maintains active memberships and participation in professional organizations in the field.
Contributes to Richland’s professional connections in agriculture, including but not limited to: the Community College Alliance for Agriculture Advancement, Women Changing the Face of Agriculture, and Progress City USA.
Teaches agriculture coursework as needed.
Performs other duties as assigned.
