HEAVY EQUIPMENT PROGRAM

The Rend Lake College Heavy Equipment Program is a two-year program designed to provide students with the technical knowledge and work skills necessary to enter the truck and construction equipment repair field.  This mechanical field curriculum is designed with both classroom lecture and laboratory experience leading to an Associate of Applied Science Degree.  College personnel take great pride in the fact that most work is based on realistic “live” work situations.  Emphasis is placed on brakes, steering and suspension, diesel engine maintenance, electrical, diesel engine electronics, and computerized engine controllers in relation to the modern technology of the industry today.  Course work includes one eight-week summer supervised occupational experience, otherwise known as “on the job training”.
