Aquaculture Opportunity...

To: Illinois Agriculture Teachers
Concerning: Fingerling Fish
The Valmeyer FFA will continue to provide fingerling fish to high school agriculture programs in the 2005-2006 school year .  We have shipped fish UPS to schools throughout the state of Illinois.  We will continue to provide tilapia 1-2” at $50 per 100 fish.  That cost will include shipping.  When buying tilapia make sure you have the correct permits.
We continued to have success with feed trained largemouth bass.  We will sell the bass in late September or early October for $75 per 100 they should be 3” and will be trained to eat pelleted feed.
We will likely have larger bass and tilapia available.  You may have to visit Valmeyer to get them, as they become more difficult and expensive to ship as size increases.  We will have an IAVAT  workshop on August 8th and 9th at the Valmeyer High School.  The major focus of the workshop will be grapes, but we will also spend time on aquaculture and greenhouse management.  I encourage anyone interested to attend.  As of today, 16 teachers have signed up for the workshops.
Thank you,
Howard Heavner
