National FFA Convention One-Day Attendance Grants

The National FFA Convention is the World Series and Super Bowl of Agricultural Education.
  ISBE through the Facilitating Coordination in Agricultural Education (FCAE) initiative is making available a one day trip to the National FFA Convention for schools interested in starting agricultural education programs or for those schools that have just instituted a new agricultural education program.  Chartered buses will be taking 150 individuals to the National FFA Convention on Wednesday, October 26, 2005. Leaving Illinois – Early A.M. and Arriving – 12 noon.   Leaving for Home – 6 p.m.

FIRST prioirty of this GRANT OPPORTUNITY will be given to schools that do not have an ag. program or an FFA chapter.  SECOND priority will be given to existing ag. programs that would like to send an administrator, board member, guidance counselor.  Individuals will be placed on a waiting list by the date that registrations arrive.

The attached flyer includes the preliminary information that you need. Three chartered bus will leave at a north, central, and south location on route to Louisville, Kentucky, on Wednesday, October 26th. You do not want to miss this opportunity for 6 individuals from your school to attend. We have only 150 spaces available so sign-up as soon as possible.

Who can attend: Up to 6 individuals from a school district that are considering starting an agriculture program or has started an agriculture program within the past five years. Administrators, guidance counselors, school board members, community leaders, and students(no more than 3). If space permits, grants will be opened up for schools with agriculture programs and county agricultural awareness coordinators.

When: Wednesday, October 26, 2005. Leaving Illinois – Early A.M. / Arriving – 12 noon. / Leaving for Home – 6 p.m.

Where: Kentucky Fair and Exposition Center - Louisville, Kentucky

Travel: Three chartered buses will be leaving from various locations (north, central, and south)

What is paid for: Round trip comfortable chartered bus travel, meals, and registration

What will you see: The World’s largest youth organization in action, opening ceremonies, and the agricultural career show covering more than 6 acres with 1300 exhibits and displays. During the bus ride, valuable agricultural and horticultural education information and opportunities will be presented.

Only 150 seats are available, so sign-up quickly. Registration deadline is September 30th.
