Illinois Agricultural Education will be represented at the FFA National Agricultural Career Show, Wednesday thru Friday Next Week – Stop by exhibits 600 and 700 at the North end of the Career Show.  Each of the FCAE field advisors will be taking shifts throughout the convention. 
The National Christmas Tree Association is located in St. Louis…Real Trees 4 Kids! is a free, online( curriculum that has classroom ready lesson plans for all ages in language arts, life sciences, physical sciences, agricultural systems and more. I encourage you to explore the site and pass it along.   In addition, many of its members offer farm tours for school groups or classroom presentations.  On our main Web site,, teachers can search for farms in their area that offer tours by clicking on the Teachers tab.  For more information, contact:

Nothing Says Christmas Like A Real Tree!
Now is the time to begin planning any changes in your agriculture course offerings for the 06-07 school year.  Approvable course descriptions and outlines are located at this link of our website: If you need assistance, contact your field advisor.  Your EFE system director should also be notified when any changes are made. 
Directory of agricultural curriculum materials.  The website is:  You can search by the topic you are looking for or browse through all the categories.  For example, if you type “biotechnology” in the search area, the website lists 20 resources (videos, websites, books, activity books, etc.) that relate to biotechnology.  A great source to help other teachers in you school district and to assist students with reports and upcoming speeches. 
Lewis and Clark Community College in Godfrey just north of St. Louis announced that they will begin accepting applications for their new natural resources and environmental sciences program where credits will automatically be accepted by the University of Illinois. The guaranteed transfer agreement with the University’s College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences (ACES) is the first of its kind for U of I.  Robert McClellan, president of Hortica in Edwardsville, which provides insurance services for nurseries and agricultural related businesses, says he sees great value in the transfer agreement. “Many people don’t realize the important role that environmental sciences play in Illinois’ economy. Graduates will contribute to numerous endeavors in the state related to the green industry, sustainability of our plant life and care for our watershed areas,” McClellan said.  The news release is located at this link- has a wealth of information including classroom ideas, curriculum, and grants.  Check it out today.  Thanks Allen Ritter for sharing.
