NOTE: Deadline Just Extended to November 30, 2005!
The Illinois Conservation Foundation has launched its second annual youth outreach program. Ten high school juniors or seniors-one female and one male from each of the five DNR regions-who have made significant contributions or exhibited unparalleled dedication in preserving, promoting, enhancing or supporting natural resources will be awarded a $1,000 scholarship.
Nomination forms must be postmarked by November 30, 2005. To access a nomination form, go to and click on the "Nomination form" link. Applicants must be an Illinois resident, a member of the class of 2006 or 2007 and be nominated by a natural resource constituency group, community leader, school administrator or teacher, or adult mentor.
Presentations will be made at the March 4, 2006 Illinois Outdoor Hall of Fame Banquet at The Mark in the Quad Cities. The scholarship program is supported through funds raised at the annual banquet, an event initiated in 2002 to honor people who have made significant and lasting contributions in protecting and enhancing Illinois' natural resources.

Free Oil Posters...
Entirely self-funded and a product of spare time on evenings and weekends, this poster on the oil age was created primarily by 2 individuals from the San Francisco Bay Area:  one a professional writer for Oracle, Rob Bracken and the other a graphic designer from a small software statrup, Dave Menninger…They decided that it would be extremely useful to have a visual tool to communicate salient facts about oil consumption and the longer view of oil history…(it) was finally printed in late August with an initial run of 5,000…

The goal of this poster is to raise awareness about our relationship as a society and as a country to oil and do it in a factual, relatively objective manner….as funding permits, teachers can go to to request a free poster
