Valmeyer High School's agriculture classes aren't just about cows, sows and plows. Instead, students tend to poinsettias, work in a vineyard and help run the school's moneymaking fish breeding operation.

School   Hardin County
Position   Agriculture Teacher/FFA Advisor
Description   Hardin County is located in Elizabethtown of Section 25. High school enrollment is approximately 180 students with nearly 75 students enrolled in ag. classes. Courses offered are: Introduction to the Agricultural Industry, Agricultural Science, Agribusiness Operations, Agribusiness Management, Horticultural Science, and Agricultural Mechanics and Technology. Facilities include an ag. mechanics lab, greenhouse, and classroom. The school district and county are very supportive of the agriculture program. Doug Patton will be retiring at the end of the 05-06 school year after 30 plus successful years as an agriculture teacher. Salary and benefits are per the board of education contract. An extended contract is negotiable.
