RESULTS OF THE DISTRICT 5 FFA AGRISCIENCE FAIR…
Thursday, March 13, 2008
 
Six schools participated – Cisne, Freeburg, Hamilton County, Mt. Vernon, Thompsonville, and Waterloo with 33 projects and 52 students.
 
Individual category winners-
-Ag. Mechanization/Engineering – Matt Byars, Cisne
-Plant/Soil Science – Brittany Brown, Cisne
-Animal Science – Rosemary Chapple, Waterloo
-Food Science – Amanda Hanks, Cisne
-Essay ­– Brittany Beisiegel, Freeburg
 
Top 10 projects were-

Each project received a $10 cash award, and each student received a framed certificate. The top 5 projects received $50, $30, $25, $20, and $15. 
 
This event was hosted and sponsored by Rend Lake College – Applied Science and Technology Division. The facilities and cash prizes were contributed by Rend Lake College. A special “thank you” acknowledged to Sarah Bond and her staff at RLC for hosting this event.
 
Judges for this event were area educational and agribusiness leaders. Assistance was also provided by: Tannor Spittler, State FFA Reporter, Sam Meeter, State FFA Vice President, the District 5 FFA Section Presidents, Anthony Graham, Andrew Heavner, and Ethan Keyser along with section 25 reporter Caroline Bremer. 
 
The quality and competition of the students and projects were very good this year. The District 5 Facilitating Coordination in Agricultural Education(FCAE) office organizes the event each year.
