Pre-Vet Camp at UW-Platteville, June 26/27

University of Wisconsin-Platteville presents the 5th Annual Pre-Vet Camp!

We are looking for students that are interested in the field of Veterinary Medicine who want a hands-on opportunity this summer! The dates for this year's camp are June 26 and 27th at the Pioneer Farm.

Registration information can be found at [] The cost is $225 per student which includes meals, an overnight stay and a surgical scrub top. The registration deadline is June 16, 2008. Please encourage your students to attend this workshop if they are interested in learning more about Veterinary Medicine. They will have the chance to work with large and small animal veterinarians from the area as well as UWP Farm and Academic Staff.

Do you dream of becoming a Veterinarian or working with animals?

Then UW-Platteville's Pre-Vet Camp is for you. This is your chance to observe and practice several veterinary skills and techniques. The camp will be a special asset for your future

Veterinary Skills
Practice suturing and injections.

Reproductive Physiology
Dissect a cow's reproductive tract, palpate for pregnancy, and isolate and evaluate embryos.

Animal Behavior and Handling
Learn more about normal and abnormal behavior and proper animal restraint.
Small Animal Surgery
Observe a surgery and read x-rays.

Large Animal Diagnostics
Observe animals, perform a physical, make a diagnosis.

Small Animal Physical Exams
Practice diagnostic and examination techniques on small animals.

Your chance to learn about and work with horses.

All sessions given by Veterinarians and UWP Animal Science faculty & professional staff.
