 Mr. Kim Haywood has joined the    
 FCAE Team as the new Program 
 Growth and Development Advisor 
 and Assistant working out of the
 District 5 Field Office.  
 Kim is a graduate of East St. Louis High
 School and College of Agricultural
 Sciences from Southern Illinois University Carbondale in Hospitality and Tourism Administration.  Kim served as president of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Incorporated Gamma Upsilon chapter and was a member of INROADS, an organization to develop and place talented minority youth in business and industry and to prepare them for corporate and community leadership. Kim's internship experiences have been with A.G. Edwards, Inc. and Walt Disney World in Orlando.
As the new Program Growth and Development Coordinator, Kim will be working primarily in St. Clair and Madison counties with these main objectives:
  • Presenting agricultural career and agricultural literacy information and activities to middle, jr. high, and high school students.
  • Marketing and promoting agricultural education and agriculture degree programs at area colleges, Southern Illinois University Carbondale, Western Illinois University, Illinois State University and the University of Illinois to increase diversity student enrollment.
  • Recruiting students to become agriscience teachers.
  • Establishing relationships with high schools that currently do not have agricultural education programs.
  • Creating business and industry partnerships which will support urban agricultural education programs.
  • Promoting the benefits of agricultural education programs to parents and community leaders.

Mr. Haywood has a genuine interest and desire to make a difference by providing increased opportunities for students.  Kim's contact information is the same as Dean Dittmar's at the district 5 FCAE field office. Contact information for Kim is:  [email protected] and cell phone, 618-960-7873.  Kim started officially on November 1st and has already attended his first National FFA Convention, the ICAE annual meeting in St. Louis, and a college career fair.  He is currently actively working with the new agriculture teacher, Chris Clausen, in establishing an FFA Chapter at the East St. Louis High School.
