Hummert International cordially invites you to our Earth City, MO location to attend one of our annual Greenhouse Operations and Management, In-Service Horticulture Workshops for Agricultural Educators, Science and Biology Teachers. The registration fees have been reduced to $250 and we hope you will take advantage of this new low price.

The Greenhouse Operations and Management workshop will be held from June 22nd thru June 24th, 2010 and then again on July 13th thru July 15th, 2010. Subjects include hands-on plant propagation, greenhouse maintenance, hands-on drip irrigation, Poinsettia and Spring Crop production techniques, plant nutrition, water quality and many more.

This year we will also be touring some of the best St. Louis city greenhouses! At our June session we will be visiting St. Louis Community College at Meramec, Horticulture Program and then Weithop greenhouse, a third generation grower with three acres in production.

During the July session we will be visiting Baisch & Skinner Florist and “Flower Row,” the Midwest hub of the cut flower industry. You will see all the events from receiving international shipments, processing, production, marketing, distribution and sales of cut flowers. Next, our group will travel to the Clyde C. Miller Academy which was spotlighted in People magazine for its outstanding FFA chapter and plant biotechnology career pathways program. This is sure to inspire and give you new ideas for your classroom.

Registration fees include the course materials, Hummert International catalog and publications, meals and refreshments, Swift magnifier (for insect and disease identification) and chartered bus transportation for the various tours. Other transportation, lodging and dinner is the responsibility of the attendee. For further details, please see the attached agenda.

Horticulture instructors will find these workshops invaluable for honing their skills used in teaching horticulture, as well as basic on-going horticultural knowledge. Hummert International will award certificates of completion for each of the courses attended.
