The National Farm/City Council Luncheon is scheduled for Tuesday, November 12th at the "heraton Westport Plaza Hotel in West "t. Louis off of "nterstate 270. This activity would be great for your FFA Officers to attend. AgriTalk, Live Radio Coverage, begins at 10 a.m. Luncheon starts at 12 noon. This email serves as both an announcement and an invitation to participate in the 25th Annual "llinois Junior "cience and Humanities "ymposium ("J"H"), scheduled for March 23-­25, 2003, on the Carbondale campus of "outhern "llinois University. The College of "cience at ""UC is proud to sponsor the program for the state of "llinois. The program is funded by the U.". Departments of the Army, Navy, and Air Force and administered under contract with the Academy of Applied "cience. Although the "ymposium includes a variety of activities, the primary focus has always been the opportunity for students to present and discuss their original research. The 2003 program will include student research paper presentations and a student poster session, both of which model professional scientific meetings. Other activities include laboratory visits, presentations by guest speakers, and opportunities to meet others interested in the sciences. Each high school may nominate up to four students. All registration fees, housing, and planned meal functions during the "ymposium are covered by the program. Travel to and from the "ymposium, personal meals, and miscellaneous purchases are not covered.
The 1st place finalist of the research paper presentations will receive a $4,000 undergraduate tuition scholarship to the university of the student's choice and the opportunity to compete for additional scholarships at the National J"H", U.". Air Force Academy, Colorado "prings, Colorado, April 30-­May 4, 2003. The 2nd place finalist will receive an ""UC Academic "cholarship, valued up to $4,500. The student must major in science at ""UC to qualify for this award. All presenters receive "llinois J"H" medals. "f you have students who are interested in participating and would like copies of the "Guidelines for Preparation and Presentation of "tudent Research," just email us or give us a call. Deadline for nomination forms, release forms, student biographical sketches, and photos is December 6, 2002.
