The registration for the 2012 Southern Illinois Leadership Convention is open!


Who: SILC is for High school aged youth (4-H and non 4-H) interested in increasing their leadership skills and meeting other youth from around the state.


When/Where: SILC will be held October 6-8 at Touch of Nature in Makanda, Illinois.


How Much: The early bird registration is open August 1-31 and is  $150. All registration from September 1-10 is $175.


To Register

There are two ways to register:

1.       Fill out registration form and pay online ( ) and mail in Emergency/Medical Form and Delegate Release (and Scholarship Application if applicable) to

Note: Unlike previous years, all information will directly be sent to the Jackson County Office rather than collected at the county level.


Scholarship Opportunities and Procedures

1.       4-H Cardinals Day Scholarship Fund- 1 full early bird registration will be given to each unit.

2.       John Clyde Spitler & Walter M. Johnson Scholarship Fund (Spitler-Johnson Fund funds are pending). Teams of two-three team members from school clubs (Student Council, FFA, sports teams, debate teams, etc.) qualify for these ½ fee or $75 early bird scholarships with the remaining ½ early bird registration fees of $75 being paid from local funds (academic booster clubs, parent-teacher organizations, service organizations, etc.)

-          Each Unit Youth Development Educator will be contacted regarding the selection of the awardee from their Unit.
