PROGRAM: Partnership with China to Boost Economic Development in Life Sciences, Biotechnology, and AgriScience in the St. Louis Region... See what is happening as the RCGA gives an overview and update on a three-year initiative to position St. Louis as a major gateway for Chinese investment in the United States.  The RCGA will explain how Plant Science and Ag-Tech figure prominently into the their new strategic plan for regional economic development and this partnership with the Chinese.

GUEST SPEAKER: STEVEN S. JOHNSON, Senior Vice President for Economic Development the St. Louis Regional Chamber & Growth Association  For over 25 years, Steve Johnson has led regional economic development initiatives in communities throughout the Midwest and Southeast.  Steve joined the RCGA in 2004 leading the RCGA’s 15- person team dedicated to regional business expansion, attraction and start-ups.  Prior to St. Louis, his economic development experience includes leadership positions with the Kansas City Area Development Council and the chambers of commerce in Mobile, Alabama, and Jefferson City, Missouri, his hometown.  During his tenure in St. Louis, the RCGA’s economic development team has twice been recognized by Site Selection Magazine as one of the nation’s “Top Ten Economic Development Groups.”
He is now leading the rollout and implementation of a new five-year strategic plan for economic development in Greater St. Louis and; since November 2007, has been heavily involved in the regional initiative to position St. Louis as a platform from which China engages the Central United States.  Steve also serves in an advisory capacity for the Missouri Partnership, Southern Technology Council, and the Boeing Institute of International Business for Saint Louis University.  A Missouri native, Johnson is a graduate of Harding University and the Economic Development Institute at the University of Oklahoma.

We are happy to announce an Agriculture Night with the St. Louis Blues vs. the Columbus Blue Jackets onSaturday, January 22, 2011 at 7 p.m.   Please forward to colleagues.  Tickets are $25 per person with the blues donating $5 for every ticket sold to Ag In The Classroom.  Stephanie is working with the Blues marketing department to have ‘Agriculture’ announcements and activities part of the event.  Tickets make great agribusiness employee holiday gifts and company socials.
