Southern IL Leadership Convention(Oct 8-10) - FFA Members Are Encouraged to Apply

Tuesday, May 17, 2011

*Message sent to all contacts.

Dear Youth Development Colleagues:
Great news! Exciting plans are shaping up for the fifth annual Southern Illinois Leadership Convention(SILC). The special leadership development event for all Illinois high school students or teens not yet 19 years of age by September 1, 2011, is set for Saturday, October 8, through Monday, October 10, 2011, at Touch of Nature Environmental Center in beautiful Southern Illinois. Click for more information.  Photos of past years.  Apply by Sept. 2nd.
The 2011 SILC planning committee is working hard to plan a super convention with a theme of “Lights, Camera, ACTION!”To help you get a jump on promoting the convention this year, I am attaching a save-the-date flyer, a general informational brochure, and a special informational brochure specifically for school clubs like FFA. Chapters. Last year, Illinois FFA Chapters(Wayne City, Okawville, Chrisman, Olney) sent teams of delegates to the convention, and I hope more chapters take advantage of this leadership development opportunity again this year.
The public website should be operational soon. In the meantime, please help spread the word so families can start planning for the convention, saving their pennies for gas money, and recruiting their friends to help with car pooling to Southern Illinois! (Rotary, Kiwanis, Lions, and School Academic Booster Clubs might also be willing to assist financially if approached for their support.)
Let’s ALL help make the 2011 Southern Illinois Leadership Convention a HUGE success. Thanks in advance for your promotional help!
Have a great rest of the school year and summer,
