WHAT:  District 5 IAVAT Professional Development - held in conjunction with the SIUC Cooperatives Conference

WHEN:
  Thursday, June 6 - 10:30 a.m. - 4 p.m. & Friday, June 7 - 9 a.m. - 11:15 a.m.

WHERE:  Thursday -Room 209, Agriculture Building, SIU - Carbondale     -       Friday - Quigley Hall

RSVP: as soon as possible

COST:  No registration fee.  Your travel and hotel if staying overnight(Hampton Inn, Holiday Inn, Comfort Inn, Giant City Lodge or others in the area) are not included.  Thursday lunch is complimentary for all attending.

-Nourishing the Planet in the 21st Century provided by Nutrients for Life Curriculum(All attending will receive 3 sets of curriculum in notebooks, posters, classroom games, etc. - Haley Siergiej - IL Representative 
(Hands-on AgriScience Activities for your classroom)

or Division II
-MyCAERT Refresher for beginners and intermediates.  (Those attending this workshop will also receive the Nutrients for Life Curriculum)

2:30 p.m. - BREAK 
 
2:45 p.m. - SAE Idea Exchange - EVERYONE MUST bring 1 item: How do you teach SAEs and record keeping to students?  An interest approach, a grading rubric, a test/quiz, a budget/financial worksheet, a cash flow problem, etc.  Be sure to bring along the answer key. (25 copies)

If you do not have an SAE or record keeping idea, then bring the following:  a favorite/unique teaching lab, lesson plan, fundraising idea, mechanics/agriscience lab project plan, annual report, etc.  (25 copies)

4 p.m. - Wrap up and Evaluations

4:30 p.m. - 6 p.m. or so. -  Networking -  Room to ourselves at the Mississippi Flyway in Carbondale.  Complimentary food.  Beverages on your own.
