Farm Progress Show Soils Judging

The deadline to register for the Farm Progress Show Soils Judging Contest has been extended to August 18.  Attached to this message is information about the contest and an entry form.  Please note the contact information for Dennis Bowman who is coordinating the contest has changed.  The correct contact information for him is contained in the attchments.

Seat Belt Convincer Waiver

State Farm Insurance will again have the Illinois State Police Seat Belt Convincer at the Farm Progress Show to promote safe driving.  FFA members who would like to try out the Seat Belt Convincer must have a waiver form signed by their parents or guardian if they are under 18 years of age.  A waiver form is attched to this message.  FFA members need to fill out the form, have it signed by their parents, and bring it to the show with them.  Anyone 18 or older must also have the waiver form, but can sign it themselves.

FFA/Titan Tire Auction

Titan Tire will be sponsoring the FFA/Titan Tire Auction at the Farm Progress Show.  The auction will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday August 30 and Wednesday August 31 at the FFA/Titan Tire display on Lot #1205 located between 11th and 12th Street next to East Progress Avenue.  A wide range of tires along with seed corn, crop chemicals, farm toys, and miscellaneous items will be available at the auction.  All proceeds from the auction will go to the FFA.  A complete list of tires will be posted on the Illinois FFA website (www.illinoisffa.org) and at Central Illinois Auctions' website (www.centralillinoisauctions.net) as soon as the list is available.  Bidders can register for the auction at the FFA tent prior to the time of the auction.  Please spread the word about the auction and let people know about it.

Help Needed at Farm Progress Show

We need FFA Chapters who will be attending the Farm Progress Show to volunteer to work The Andersons booth.  They need 2 or 3 FFA members at any one time and FFA members can work in shifts coordinated by the advisor.  They need FFA members to work from approximately 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.  FFA members will be handing out bottled water and asking people to make a donation to the FFA.  The Andersons will be matching the money collected dollar for dollar.  If you are willing to help out, please contact Associate Executive Secretary Frank Dry as soon as possible.
