Ag Teacher Vacancy - Carrier Mills High School - NEW PROGRAM

Thursday, July 26, 2012

*Message sent to all contacts.

School:  Carrier Mills High School - NEW PROGRAM

Position:  Agriculture Teacher/FFA Advisor

The Carrier Mills High School is located in Saline County of Section 25 between Marion and Harrisburg along Highway 45. The current industial teacher just resigned to be the new principal at the Galatia High School. Plans are to convert the industrial courses to agri-mechanics courses for 2012-13 with possible new courses in the future in agriscience, agribusiness, and horticultural science. Great opportunity to build your own program. It may have been in the 1960s and 1970s as to the last time that agriculture courses were offered at Carrier Mills.
The school district is surrounded by agriculture. Students would benefit greatly from an active and successful agriculture program. An extended contract may be available as the school district would be eligible for the $5000 start up grant for 2 years in a row. 50% of these funds can be used for an extended contract. Current facilities include: a classroom and industrial technology lab where courses have been offered as: Intro to Tech, Manufacturing(metals/welding), Construction(Woods, electricity, etc.), some small engines, and CAD.  A possible scenerio would be: Introduction to the Agricultural Industry, Ag Mechanics, Ag Mechanics and Technology, Ag Construction, and Ag Metal & Fabrication. Current enrollment in the high school is 130 9-12 grade students. Provisionally certified candidates are encouraged to apply.  View school report card -
