STEM SAE Grant Summary - Work Smart Not More

Wednesday, April 03, 2013

*Sent to District 5 Ag Teachers

Thank you to the 33 schools that took time during a hectic period to submit a grant application.  Your time paid off as each school that submitted SAE data for 2012 received $15 per student.   Each of these schools has valuable data to share with school and community stakeholders.  Example:  The little town of Cisne, Illinois, of section 23 with a population of 670 residents totaled $175,979 in student SAE net income.

I cannot stress enough that we has agricultural educators must begin to work smarter and more efficiently.  Take a look at your time throughout the week and month.  What activities/events/lessons can you eliminate that don't affect many students and are out dated that you could implement more SAE activities to gain valuable data and student skills.

My hope is that every program(74) next year will take advantage of this STEM Initiative grant.  The time is now though to start students with an SAE - Ag or nonAg related and record books - online or paper.  Grant is determined by students having an SAE in 2013.
