". National Farm Safety and Health Week was September 2"-27, 2003, but it is still important to discuss agricultural safety in the classroom and through your FFA Chapter. Agricultural safety is a great way to work with adults and your community. Curriculum, ideas, and facts can be found at the National Safety Council website at

2. The IAVAT Student Branch Workshop will be held on Friday and Saturday, November 7th and 8th at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. College students attending a university or community college that are interested in agricultural education and possibly teaching some day SHOULD definitely attend. “When I was a student at the U of I, I remember attending at SIUC. It was a great educational opportunity to learn more about the profession and to talk with students from Illinois universities and colleges having the same interests.” “Others that I can remember still in agricultural education that attended were Mary Barnes and Rich Petitt. 3. The District 5 FFA Computer CDE will be held at Rend Lake College on Wednesday, November "2, 2003, at 5 p.m.-registration and 5:30 p.m.-start. $"0 per team registration fee. A team will consist of "-5 individuals. Top teams will be scored with the 3 highest individual scores. The CDE will consist of the following:

") Written Exam (Paper Exercise)
2) Spreadsheet Troubleshooting (Paper Exercise)
3) Data Set Entry and Calculation (Computer Exercise)
4) PowerPoint Usage including but not excluded to: (Computer Exercise)
