SAE STEM Grant - Up to $20/Student with an SAE

Thursday, January 22, 2015

*Sent to D5 Ag Teachers, Principals & Superintendents.

Thank you to the 46 schools last year that took time to submit a grant application.  Your time paid off as each school that submitted SAE data for 2013 received grant funding.   Each of these schools also has valuable data to share with school and community stakeholders. See dollar amount per school at bottom.

My hope is that every program(74) this year will take advantage of this STEM grant. Attached below or Click for Excel doc application.

Begin now by having students with an SAE enter in their:  name, graduation year, SAE pathway, and SAE focus. Only 1 row per student as all SAE books are combined for data.

Qualifications and Requirements
The AFNR STEM Learning Exchange will provide Agricultural Education Programs with Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) Mini-Grants for initiatives that will improve and expand SAE projects at the local level.

To qualify for the grant, programs must complete tabs 2 to 5 of excel doc and send via email to me by Monday, February 16, 2015. Tab 2 must also be completed, printed, signed and sent to the D5 FCAE office(above) by February 16, 2015.

Funding for this grant will be up to $20 per student with a completed and closed out 2014 SAE record book (students reported in tabs 3 and 4). The final amount per student will be determined by the total amount of funds and the total number of students reported with a SAE in Illinois. Payment of 50% of the funds will be awarded to grant recipients in the form of a check from the Illinois Foundation FFA, the AFNR STEM Learning Exchange fiscal agent. The balance of the funds will be awarded as soon as the final report is submitted to me via email/US mail/fax.  The final report is due by May 15, 2015.
