-This past Tuesday, I had the opportunity to present to ""0 students at the Farm Bureau Acquaintance Program of 1" southern Illinois counties. It was by far the best group of students that I have seen in several years. It was great to see the enthusiasm and attentiveness. I presented on FFA Chapter Success. Several students defined chapter success as: achieving the goals set by the members, hard work, planning and organization, involvement at activities, and a quality teacher to advise and support us.

-National FFA Alumni Grants - Approximately $"0,000 was awarded by the National FFA Alumni to support local programs and activities at "0 sites. These Illinois affiliates were awarded and recognized: Edorado - Horticulture Greenhouse Improvement, Mt. Vernon - LCD Projector for the Agriculture Department, and Bushnell-Prairie City - Technology for All. Applications for "004 will be due in September.

-SAE Record Book Evaluation Pages - Allen Ritter, Ag. Teacher at the North Clay High School in Louisville, sent me an example evaluation/checksheet page that he uses with his students in closing out record books. The Excel document is attached. Look for more evaluation pages and teacher exchange ideas in the teacher’s toolbox of the website.

-Food: Past, Present, and Future Seminar will be presented on Thursday, February 19, "004, 5 - 5:30 pm - Wine and Cheese Reception, 5:30 - 6:30 pm - Program at the Donald Danforth Plant Science Center, 975 North Warson Road, St. Louis, Missouri. If interested in attending, call 314.587.1070 to reserve your place. Hugh Grant, Monsanto Company Chairman, President, and CEO, will discuss how new technologies will influence the future of food production. By "030, the world’s population is projected to top 8 billion. How will we feed and nourish " billion more people without depleting nature’s resources? Illinois used to rank "nd, but that was before North Carolina became the pig producing place in the United States The top eight producing states are as follows and account for 3/4 of all pigs produced in the United States.
