-Ag. Awareness Conference Was A Success
-Capital Campaign Challenge

-The 4th Annual Agricultural Awareness Conference Was A Success in Collinsville on Wednesday. Over 150 ag. awareness coordinators, teachers, agribusiness leaders, agency/organization leaders, and guests attended this event. Thank you to Kevin Daugherty, Ag In The Classroom State Director - Illinois Farm Bureau, and his staff for organizing and hosting this event. Continuing to increase the agricultural literacy level of students and the general public is a key to our success.

-From David Scott, Ag. Teacher - Wayne City High School, I thought I might give an update. The Capital Campaign Committee met January 30th. We are making great strides in paying off the building. We have some pledges that are going to be coming in from the business side, barn books, bears, and chapter pledges. I would like to challenge district V to do their part. As it stands now, if we broke down what we owe per student, it would be $13.30 per student. I would challenge district V to try to pledge per this per student. I strongly feel that we can ALL chip in and have the Illinois FFA Center closer to being paid off. At the present time, the building probably won't be paid off by this June, but it could be paid off by June 2005. If you have questions, email me at [email protected], or call at (618) 895-3103.

HP believes that mobile technology, when used effectively as a teaching tool, can have a positive impact on student learning. We are inviting educators in the U.S. who share this belief, and have the vision and desire to make it a reality, to apply for the HP Technology for Teaching Grant Initiative. This grant initiative is designed to support the innovative use of technology in K-16 education, and to help identify K-12 schools and higher education institutions that HP might support with future grants. Based on the outcomes of the projects funded through this initiative in 2004, HP will offer grant recipients the opportunity to apply for additional, higher-value grants in 2005. The deadline is March 2, 2004. For more information visit:
