*Sent to D5 Ag Teachers.

ISBE Student Advisory Council (SAC) Application Available
(I would be glad to assist with student applications.  It would be great to have some top-notch FFA members on this advisory council.)

High school students from across the state of Illinois are selected as members of the Illinois State Board of Education’s Student Advisory Council (SAC).  Members of SAC work with the State Board of Education and the State Superintendent, providing student perspectives and concerns on the state’s education policies. Each year, the members of SAC also select a topic that they research in depth and present to the State Board of Education.

Applicants to the SAC undergo a competitive review process and those selected exhibit strong interpersonal skills, the ability to work well in groups, think creatively and come up with innovative solutions. The SAC was established in 1975 and all sophomores, juniors, and seniors who attend an Illinois public high school are eligible to apply.  The applications are available to apply for the 2016-2017 SAC. Here is the link to the application with the submission deadline of May 27, 2016.

Two essays on the following topics are required, not to exceed one single-spaced page per question.
1. Why are you interested in serving on the ISBE Student Advisory Council (SAC)?
