Trapshoot Fundraiser - Sunday, Sept 18

Tuesday, August 23, 2016

*Sent to D5 Ag Teachers.

Dear Fellow Educators,

As you prepare to begin another school year, I pray that you teach each and every day because of your PASSION for education. But more importantly for that opportunity to touch and inspire students who otherwise would not see their potential. It’s people like you who make a difference in the lives of young people and to society in general. We as a country need more of these people and not fewer.

I was a FFA member at Altamont High (68 -72), taught H.S. at Waltonville Il 78 – 82 where I had John Kabat as a student who is now an Ag teacher at Mt. Vernon, IL

As I reflect on my life as an educator, school board member, father, Pastor, community and church leader – I think back to the influence that the FFA and my Ag teacher had on my life. The twelve short words that make up the FFA motto, are indeed a powerful message for a young high school student who is trying figure out what career path to choose and how to become a relevant part of the community and profession that is chosen.

I am writing to you today on behalf of our 4 year old adopted son, Roston. He has been diagnosed with AUTISM, EPILEPSY,  DELETERIOUS  MUTATIION  of  SYNGAP1, along with WFS1, CACNB4, SUOX, and KCNH2. As stated in the doctor's diagnosis; “within the next 6-8 years Roston will develop deafness, diabetes mellitus, blindness, increased seizure activity, and a much shortened life expectancy.”

The doctors have recommended a service dog to help with monitoring Roston's health conditions along with being a comfort to him as the symptom's progress. Because our cost for this dog is $25,000 and the fact that Roston's illnesses will be a constant battle for him with many unknown consequences and costs; WE HAVE SET UP AN ACCOUNT THROUGH REGIONS BANK IN SALEM, IL. This account has restricted use to where these funds can be used for Roston's needs only, specifically the service dog and medical needs.

We are asking for your help in this matter.
