-The St. Louis All Equipment Expo will be held on Saturday and Sunday, December 11-12, 2004 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.  The Expo will be held downtown at  America's Center, 701 Convention Plaza in St. Louis, Missouri.  You will be able to see the latest and greatest in ag. construction and lawn/turf equipment on display.  You will experience the virtual one-stop shop of the largest collection in agricultural equipment, construction equipment, and out-door power equipment, technology, and service.  Free admission, plenty of parking, no St. Louis Rams football game, antique tractors and trucks, and a toy tractor pull for the kids ages 4-12.  For more information, go to this website at –


-The National FFA Alumni Association recently announced their 2004 Local Program Support Grant Recipients.  Seventy-eight FFA Alumni Chapters completed grant applications.  Four Illinois FFA Alumnis received $1000 grants including:

-Hamilton County at McLeansboro – Methamphetamine Educational Workshops

-Kewanee – Historical Tourism Brochure

-North Clay at Louisville – Greenhouse Benches

-Valmeyer – Making a Splash with Aquaculture

Twenty $1000 grants were given out totally to $20,000.


-Toyota Tapestry is the largest K-12 science teacher grant program in the nation, providing 50 grants of up to $10,000 each to K-12 science teachers, as well as a minimum of 20 mini-grants of up to $2,500 each for projects smaller in scope.   These grants are awarded for creative, innovative classroom projects in the fields of environmental education, physical science, and literacy and science education.  Our hope is that these grants will provide a catalyst for a lifetime of creative science exploration.  The program is administered by the National Science Teachers Association. 


August – January:  Applications available

Mid January:  Applications due.

Late February:  Awardees notified.

April:  Project directors are recognized at the NSTA National Convention.

-Agriculture Assessment Workshop:  Student Performance, Assessment Format, Using Rubrics, and Student Tasks Sheets.   Don't miss this opportunity to increase student performance in your classroom.  The EFE will provide substitute pay and mileage for each agriculture teacher participating in the workshop.  Registration fee in this EFE region – no cost, Outside of this EFE region - $10.
