IFB Resolutions Highlights

  1.  What were the top three issues debated at the 2016 Illinois Farm Bureau Annual Meeting? (trade, property rights and water quality)
  2. Illinois Farm Bureau delegates voted to oppose separating nutrition and commodity titles in the farm bill.  Why would this be important?  (This may require some research.  http://www.snaptohealth.org/farm-bill-usda/u-s-farm-bill-faq/     Currently 67% of the Farm Bill is Nutrition supplement.  14% is linked directly to commodities.  Separating could allow commodities and farming to become lost in the shuffle)
  3. IFB will emphasize trade in the coming year.  Under a new administration, how could this impact farmers in your area?  (Answers will vary)
  4. IFB supports elimination of duplicate levee inspections.  How will this result in cost savings? (levee inspections can be shared within organizations, thus saving money)
  5.  How will highway commissioner residency requirements impact rural communities? (in areas of less than 500 people, there can be issues with a qualified and interested person serving in an official capacity.)  Discuss how this might be an issue in your area.
  6. Of the policy resolutions of the Illinois Farm Bureau, which resolution or policy has the most impact on your area, or are you most interested in learning more about.  (Answers will vary)
