FARMWEEK Reading Activity from Illinois Agriculture in the Classroom.

Another in the series of Illinois Agriculture in the Classroom non-fiction text examples to be used in your classroom.  Remember, these will be available every MONDAY afternoon that FarmWeek is published during the school year.

  2. Davis, R-Taylorville is referenced in the article.What does R-Taylorville mean? Rodney Davis is the US Representative for the 13th District of Illinois. His District stretches southwest from Champaign to Decatur and south to Taylorville and then straight west to the Mississippi River.  He is from Taylorville, and serves as a Republican.  Because the Republican Party controls the House of Representatives, all Chairman positions are controlled by the Republicans. )
  3. Rachel Coventry, Curtis Orchard’s beekeeper states that bees fly up to a 3 mile radius.Why is it important to have crops blooming year round for the bees? (This provides a diversified source of food and pollination)
