Online Ag Course Opportunities Now Available

Thursday, August 31, 2017

*Sent to all contacts.

The Illinois Leadership Council for Agricultural Education(ILCAE) met in March and June discussing the idea of developing online ag courses for high school students that cannot take high school ag courses due to scheduling conflicts or are not offered at their school, public and private.  View meeting mintues.

Our goal is to provide opportunities to Illinois students that do not have access to agricultural education courses at their schools.  Currently, 90% of all high school students in Illinois do not have access to agricultural education courses at their high school.  Online agriculture courses are an interest approach for schools to first introduce students to the agricultural industry and careers, though the ultimate and long term goal is to have a 'live' agriculture teacher at every public and non-public high school.

View this weblink or below the online agriculture course options now available to middle and high school students across the state including home school students.

1 - is piloting a semester course(Fall 2017), Agricultural Science - Plant, with 25 students statewide.  Brochure and Course Description & Outline.  For more information, contact Kathy Novotney.  Nine schools, mostly non-public, are participating in this Pilot Project.  Christie Joehl is the online ag instructor.
