The Plant Care Facility Coordinator is a full-time, twelve-month academic professional position in the Office of Research Plant Care Facility in the College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences (ACES) at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. This position reports to the Associate Dean, Office of Research as well as the Department Head of Plant Biology. This position coordinate the operations and activities of the Plant Care Facility (PCF) for the Office of Research, the College of Agricultural, Consumer and Environmental Sciences (ACES), and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Specifically, the responsibilities are:
1) Manage the day-to-day operation and maintenance of the PCF by assisting and coordinating the activities of greenhouse users and staff. This includes personnel supervision, personnel hiring and termination, annual evaluations, safety and in-service training, and public relations. 2) Implements greenhouse policies and procedures as established by the PCF Advisory Committee. 3) Receive and review Project Request Forms, make greenhouse space assignments, maintain records of greenhouse space use and associated service charges. 4) Oversee the Plant Science Lab (PSL) soil mixing operation, which includes supervising staff in their daily routine. 5) Order and maintain inventories of general greenhouse supplies and commodities.

Required: BS in horticulture, agricultural, or biological sciences, or related field. At least five (5) years of experience operating a greenhouse and/or conservatory in either a research or commercial situation required. Demonstrated leadership skills and supervisory experience required. Must possess or be able to obtain an Illinois Pesticide Public Applicator's license. A driver's license is required. Excellent knowledge of greenhouse plant care and pest management is essential. Excellent verbal and written communication skills required. Demonstrated organizational and budgeting skills, computer skills, and a technical knowledge of greenhouse operations, including computer-bases, environmental control systems.
Preferred: MS. Five (5) years of supervisory experience strongly preferred. Experience in long-term planning, greenhouse renovation, and equipment upgrades is preferred. An understanding of the value and importance of plant related research is preferred.
