*Sent to D5 Ag Teachers and Administrators

Hi Ag Teachers and Administrators:

Thank you for sending in your intent to apply for the FY18 Three Circle(FFA & SAE) Grant.   Statewide, 159 schools and 184 ag teachers applied.  In district 5, 41 schools(26% of the total applying) and 50 ag teachers(27% of the total applying).

Everyone should have received Harley Hepner's email message on December 20th which has much more detailed information.

The IWAS grant must be submitted online to ISBE by Saturday, January 20, 2018, so to secure a start date of July 1, 2017, for the ag teacher's 400 hour beginning.

IWAS budget page should include:
-1 row for TRS and THIS.  Function Code-2210, Object Code-200.  Specify amount for each.  Do not include this row if TRS and THIS aren't deducted.
-1 row for Curricular and Professional Development.  Function Code-2210 Object Code-100.  Specify estimated hours and salary amount for each.
-1 row for FFA and SAE.  Function Code-1000  Object Code-100.  Specify estimated hours and salary amount for each.
-Schools with multiple ag teachers should have seperate rows for each ag teacher.

Documentation of Hours:
-Highly recommended to enter in Ag Experience Tracker(AET) which is an online program available free for ag teacher use.
-Documentation can also be made in similar programs...Excel, Word, etc. though AET has cells already included for data entry.
-Entries must include: district name, school name, teacher name(s), date including start time and end time, activity description, number of hours, and relationship to SAE, FFA, or Curricular as well as number of individuals (elementary/middle school and high school students, community members and partners) impacted by its activities.  The start and end time should be included in the activity description data field for AET.
-Recommended hours in each area are:  FFA-136, SAE-136, Curricular-128.
-Monthly activity log sent to administrators at the beginning of every month for the previous month is recommended.
-Meeting with ag teacher(s), administrators, FFA rep, FFA Alumni rep, and others to discuss the best use of the ag teacher's 400 hour extended time is recommended.
