Position     AITC County Coordinator
Description     The Ag Literacy Coordinator will work with the County Farm Bureau Manager and the Jackson County Advisory Council/AITC Committee on projects set forth in the plan of work for the year.

The Ag Literacy Coordinator will work with local school districts to deliver specific programming in agricultural literacy exploration, experimentation and growth.

The Ag Literacy Coordinator reports directly to the Jackson County Farm Bureau Manager. The County Farm Bureau Manager is responsible for supervision and performance reviews of the Ag
Literacy coordinator with input from the Jackson County Advisory Council.

1. Develop and conduct in-school and group educational programs
a. Emphasis on K through 5th grade students.
2. Prepare and assemble lesson plans, activities, and packets
3. Organize and work with volunteers to make educational presentations.
4. Work with local FFA chapters, SIU students, and other organizations on volunteer
activities, programs, etc.
5. Conduct volunteer and county and/or district teacher workshops and institutes
6. Use a variety of methods to reach targeted audiences (field trips, demonstrations,
presentations, media, newsletters, exhibits, contests, etc)
7. Use materials as supplied and keep supply room organized
8. Complete duties as assigned by the Manager

• Interest and basic knowledge of agriculture
• Ability to work “hands-on” with students, teachers and volunteers
• Good communications skills
• Drivers license and reliable vehicle
• Ability to work independently
• Ability to organize/motivate volunteers
• College experience preferred

- The position is part-time, wage dependent on experience. Mileage reimbursed at IRS rate.
- Some night and weekend work required
- Coordinator sets own hours/schedule, not to exceed 20 hrs/week
